Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family matters. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond the realm of law as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce child support, custody, and guardianships, as well in estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to every client's needs.
